#1-10 [1950-1952] During the 1950's there were many Western B stars taken from the movies and television and put into comic books, Bob Colt was not one of them. Even with many characters left to immortalize in comic books, Fawcett decided to go in another direction, they created a movie star. Steve Holland, a male model, was used to create a Western movie star. Still pictures of him in action with his horse Buckskin were taken and suddenly Bob Colt came to life. I guess this was a good career move for Steve as he would later go on to model for most of the cover illustrations for Doc Savage in the 1960's, and Mack Bolan in the 80's. Steve also went on to play Flash Gordon in the TV show of the same name in 1954. As for Bob Colt, even though no one seemed to realize that he did not exist outside of the comic book, the series only lasted 10 issues.
